Just Wondering

I see so many adorable little boys and so many good looking men, but since I live near
Willamette High School it makes me curious.
What happens between early childhood and adulthood?
Where do the teenagers get their sense of style?
Is this something we can blame on global warming?
I for one am going to pay more attention to the adorable little boys and
the good looking men.

Grandma's philosophy

After upteen years it has occured to me that I am not responsible for
children's eating, sleeping, or TV watching when they are at my house.
Go ahead - let them have soda for breakfast instead of fruit juice.
Let them have ice cream with chocolate sauce instead of carrots
for dinner. Gummy bears are okay any time.
If you don't want to go to bed until 10 or 11 - okay we'll watch
the late show.
Oh this philosophy makes visits and sleep overs so much more
fun for us.
Mom's be forwarned - grandmother's are easing up on rules.

A Simple Pleasure

As I was toweling off after my shower the memory of
pretty boxes of flowery talcum powder with lamb skin
puffs came to mind.
Every girl from 14 on had a box and used it after
a bath or shower.
Oh the pleasure of the cloud of scented talc
settling on your skin.
Where have all the pretty boxes of talc gone?

Friendship

I received this via e-mail from a dear friend and think
it worth passing on to you.

THIS SAYS IT ALL;
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT - Sisters are there, no matter how much time
and how many miles are between you.
A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you
intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms
at the valley's end.
Sometimes they will even break the rules and walk
beside you, or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law,
sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, aunties,
nieces, cousins and extended family all bless our life.
When we began this adventure called womanhood,we
had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay
ahead, not did we know how much we would need
each other.
Every day, we need each other still.

I wish I had realized these things many, many years ago.
I rushed through life not keeping in touch with friends along
the way and now realize I have no friends that I have had since
school days. No complaining though because I have wonderful
friends and family now.

Daffodils

It is always a window on spring when the daffodils bloom. I love to see fields of daffodils nodding in the March
breezes. They are beautiful even in the rain. Once in a while they can be seen poking their blossoms out of
a late snow.
If anything says spring to me it is the first daffodil.
It took several years to discover why the daffodils which had bloomed in the field across from our house, suddenly
stopped blooming. We mowed the field-wrong move.
The secret is after they are through blooming, don't cut off the green leaves (they probably have another name but
you know what I mean). Just let them die back naturally because they supply the nutrients needed for the blooms
next year. A little fertilizer helps if you don't have good soil.
When I moved into town I planted some bulbs which did well last year. This year zilch. The soil here in Bethel-
Danebo is really bad. So that calls for a trip to Jerry's.
Happy spring to you all.

Making History

It seems impossible that this aging grandma could actually be blogging. Who would have guessed?
I think it is because of the encouragement of Emily Ruth and her friends that it occured to me that
"I can do this"
Now, all that is left is to come up with some interesting blogs.
Any ideas from you will be most welcome.
Let me know.
